Not Your Ordinary Girl

When you believe...

Who knows what miracles you can achieve...when you believe...

Tonight, we had a session of reflection mainly of the how the rest of this year has gone by. The first question that our household leader asked was “to imagine a time when you felt alone and empty.” I had to stop and wonder because I found myself struggling to remember a time when I felt empty. A time when I felt like life was not complete.

This year, I have tried to always see the good things and everything that comes my way. Every day that I get into my car to drive off to work, I always say a little prayer for God to help me always see the good in every situation and to appreciate as much as I can in a day.

This exercise, truly helped me live a better and contented life. I am not saying that my life is perfect as it is. There are occasions where I tend to wonder why I find myself in situations that seem to be impossible to comprehend but rather than constantly doubting, I chose to believe and continue to hope and pray that all will be will in due course.

The more you choose to love, the more you feel you are surrounded by lovely blessings. If only you see the lovely creations God has showered you with, I promise you, you would live not a perfect life but a happy and contented life. Believe that He is always with you, whatever valley may be ahead of you.

Carry Your Cross With Love

ANYONE WHO DOES NOT CARRY HIS CROSS AND COME AFTER ME, CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE

As we know, Cross is very distinct and one of the beloved images for Christians. As a Christian, the cross for me symbolises God’s love for us all. Because of love, Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. On the cross, Jesus stretches out his arms to embrace humanity with love and hope.

The question really here is ‘what does Jesus mean by asking us to carry our cross and follow him?’ He certainly does not want us to be literally crucified on the cross like him. Our God is so good that he has done all that so that we wouldn’t have to go through it. What he means by this really goes back to the first commandment, to love one another, care for each other and make sacrifices for one another. The message here is to remember that to live is to love and share; to live is to strive and attempt.

Each of us has our own crosses that we carry; the challenges in our studies, the hardness in our jobs, the annoyance in our conversations as well the disappointment in our relationship etc. We may sometimes feel that life is indeed very unfair and that we have more crosses to carry compared to other people. These may send negative thoughts such as giving up and abandoning our journey towards Christ. What we really need to understand here is that each person has their own journey and each has their moments of both highs and lows, easy or very challenging.

The attitude of acceptance is the key, the attitude of being ready to carry the cross we have been given. As the old saying goes, God will never give us any challenges that we cannot overcome or any problems that he does not have the answers to.
