Out of the routine

Since I have started my current job, my shift has always been 9.30am to 5.30pm. I was never a morning person and as you can imagine, every morning for me is a struggle. But I genuinely love my job, its just that morning has never been my friend. I really do try but some things are not meant to be.
Last week, I agreed to cover one of my workmate's shift which starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm. Today was the first day that I started doing the shift and I am already loving it! The day goes by quicker for me since the busiest time of the day for me is midday and that always works to my advantage. Being busy means I don't realise the time passing and it generally gives me purpose because a massive part of my job is helping out people. Most especially when they are grateful of your service, it makes my job so much easier! I feel like I am not working at all.
After 3pm, that's when it starts to die down and when people starts to head home. I do feel a little pang in my heart seeing them leave but because I have personal time for myself, its not as difficult as it seems after all. I have more than enough time to go through my pending tasks and unfinished business and because it is December, there is barely anything for us to do. I suppose you can expect quite a few blog posts coming through your way this week because it is likely what I would be doing during my free time at work.
It is great to be out of the routine once in a while. Try something else and who knows, this might work to my advantage at the end.
Change is not always bad, its just another opportunity for us to know what really works for us. Otherwise, how would we know that we don't prefer something if we've never tried it before?
